My name is John Boran Jr., and I am a jack of all trades designer living in Sugar Land, TX who specializes in identity and graphic design. I am currently teaching myself the finer points of type design and recently started my own independent foundry, Multiocular Type. Outside work, I love shooting film photography with my Leica IIIA from 1935 and building furniture.
I most recently worked at Pentagram on Emily Oberman’s team as a contract senior designer, where I specialized in identity projects focused on entertainment and technology. During these projects, I have done everything from crafting new business pitches for potential clients to creating final style guides. Notable clients include Warner Brothers, Tribeca Festival, Warner Brothers Games, and NBC, to name a few.
Prior to now, I completed my MFA in Products of Design from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. While there, I picked up new skills in industrial design, design strategy, naming, experience design, and completed a body of thesis work focused on the intersection of human spaceflight & design.
